Date: August 24, 2007

Gloucestershire 1000, (c) Gloucestershire 1000 and its associate partnersSnap up £350 in celebration of Gloucestershire’s birthday!

Entries have been flooding in to the photography competition celebrating Gloucestershire’s 1000th birthday.

The My View photography competition is an opportunity to celebrate the glorious county where we live and work. This is a chance to capture the best things about Gloucestershire life, whether it’s the colour and drama of the bustling urban centres or a tranquil moment that encapsulates the beauty of the landscape. From images of the recent floods, to events that are unique to the county such as the annual cheese-rolling or the Tetbury wool sack races, the competition is an opportunity to capture all that is great about Gloucestershire.

With the closing date of 3rd September fast approaching, the Bank Holiday weekend provides an ideal opportunity to roam the county and get snapping. There’s a £350 up for grabs for the winning entry, plus £150 second prize and £50 for third place. A selection of images will be chosen for an exhibition in the autumn at University of Gloucestershire’s Pittville Studios.

“This is a chance for people to express how they feel about living or working in Gloucestershire and the competition is open to everyone, regardless of age or ability,” said co-ordinator Laura Fleming. “Even if you’ve never taken a photo before, we’d like to see your unique image of the county.”

Photographs can be taken using digital cameras, disposable cameras, webcams or mobile phones. Anyone wanting to find out more should visit www.gloucestershire1000.org.uk
