Date: February 12, 2008

Seven public meetings organised by Cotswolds MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown took place this weekend in Rendcomb, Stratton, Weston-sub-Edge, Blockley, Guiting Power, Aldsworth and Meysey Hampton to discuss the closure of these Post Offices and those in the surrounding areas.

The issue of Post Office closures is causing such widespread annoyance and dismay that Mr Clifton-Brown said that an unprededented many hundreds of people turned up for these meetings at such short notice.

The meetings gave those who attended a chance to air their views and equally be informed further by Mr Clifton-Brown about the consultation period which ends on the 17th March.

Further activities and protests are planned, details of which will be available at www.cliftonbrown.co.uk and through all local news sources.

Mr Clifton-Brown said “I believe that the Cotswolds has been one of the worst hit, with the loss of 12 Post Offices. I wish to assure everyone that I will be fighting as hard as I know how in order to retain the best possible range of postal services for the Cotswolds”
