Stamp on Post Office Closures!

Places, Features, Events Add comments

A peaceful protest, led by Cotswold MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, calling on the Government to stamp on Post Office closures, is scheduled to take to the streets of Cirencester this Saturday 8th March at 11.00.

Hundreds of consumers will descend on the Central Post Office in Cirencester where they will each queue to buy a single stamp, demonstrating how congested the office will become if others are closed, as planned by Government.
Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, who earlier this week, made the final speech from the Opposition Front Bench in a keynote Commons debate on Post Office closure said “The people of Cirencester will stamp their feet hard this Saturday when they express their anger at this Government’s plans. These closures are yet another lethal blow to rural life - a concept Labour Ministers completely and constantly fail to understand”

Mr Clifton-Brown has already held seven packed meetings in the Cotswolds, and Saturday’s protest will be the climax of a sustained campaign that will continue until the consultation period ends.

The protest will begin at Bathurst Estate Yard in Park Street Cirencester at 11.00 before progressing to the Central Post Office via Black Jack Street at 11.30.
