Gloucestershire Road Repair Funds start Flooding In

Features Add comments

It has been announced by the Department for Transport that Gloucestershire County Council is to receive £10.048 million to repair the damage to the County’s roads caused by last summers flooding. This good news has delighted Cotswolds MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown.

The amount is £48000 above the funding assurance provided to the authority in September last year and means that Gloucestershire has received £12.1m in support for dealing with the consequences of the flooding.

Following the announcement Mr Clifton-Brown commented “This announcement could not come soon enough; the flooding was eight months ago. I welcome this injection of cash and hope that the backlog of repairs my constituents have been contacting me about can now begin in earnest.

This is not the end of the road for Gloucestershire. Whilst this money will mitigate the damage to the roads caused by the flooding, there are still 300 people across the county in temporary accommodation and much more work is needed on our flood preparedness for the future”
