Bourton to host Flood Fair on May 16th

Places, Events Add comments

It may seem that summer has come to the Cotswolds early, but people in Gloucestershire should still be prepared for the threat of flooding in the future.

And Cotswold District Council has teamed up with the Environment Agency and the National Flood Fair to offer residents the chance to get prepared, as it holds a second Flood Protection Products Fair on May 16th in Bourton-on-the-Water.

The event, which will run from 2.30pm to 7pm at the Royal British Legion Hall, will offer practical ideas and advice about flood protection following the heavy rain which affected large parts of the Cotswolds last July.

Visitors will be able to identify flood protection measures, find out about flood warnings and learn key practical tips and skills to cope with the future threat of flooding.

Tim Dowan, Cotswold District Councils newly-appointed Community Resilience Liaison Officer said: “People can come along to the event and get loads of free advice and information, as well as seeing the very latest flood protection equipment available to them.”
“We hope this event will be even more popular and will give people the chance consider taking actions now to protect themselves from potential problems in the future.”

This is the second event organised by Cotswold District Council in conjunction with the Environment Agency and the National Flood Forum.  The first event, which was held in Cirencester on March 28th, was a great success and more than 150 attended.

Friday’s Flood Protection Products Fair is free to enter and provides free car parking.
