Cotswold Art & Artists, an exhibition of some of Gloucestershire’s most established artists and craftsmen spanning the last 100 years.

Simon Chorley exhibitionThe exhibition has been organised by Simon Chorley Art & Antiques and will include over 30 different artists and craftsmen who have lived, worked or been influenced by the rural landscape and way of life of the Cotswolds. Works will consist of a variety of mediums including acrylic, watercolour, etching, wood-engraving, hand-crafted books, and bronze and stone sculpture.

The older works will be on loan from private collections and many of the contemporary works will be for sale.
This is a chance to view or buy some of the most wonderful works of Cotswold art as well as to meet the artists themselves.

Amongst the contemporary artists exhibiting will be Cheltenham based artist P J Crook who produces meticulously detailed paintings which portray a fascinating view of life. She paints on a large scale in strongly coloured acrylics.

Ian Rank-Broadley is best known for his image of HM Queen Elizabeth II on all UK and Commonwealth coinage since 1998, and he will be exhibiting a bronze - Man with Sheep.

Andrew Davidson, a very talented illustrator and designer has been involved in many important projects including illustrating several ranges of stamps for the Royal Mail.

Mila Judge-Furstova’s work consists mainly of etchings and some of her pieces were in an exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum earlier this year. She is the first Artist-in-Residence at Cheltenham Ladies College, where she has built and runs an etching studio for the pupils.

Simon Chorley exhibitionLucy Pratt is one of the few truly Impressionist English painters working today. Her richly textured colourful scenes of Cornwall and London are often painted en plein air recording her direct response to each subject.

Andy Mitchell is a sculptor and bronze founder as well as a highly recognised expert on the conservation and restoration of metal sculpture and was responsible for the restoration of all the sculptures on the Albert Memorial in Hyde Park, London.

The older pieces have been loaned from private collections and include work by Michael Dinkel, Charles M Gere, RA, RWS, F L Griggs, RA and Arthur Gaskin, all associated with the Arts and Crafts movement in the Cotswolds.

Entry to the Exhibition is £3.00 on the door and all entrance fees and preview ticket proceeds are being donated by Simon Chorley to the Cobalt Breast Clinic £1 Million Appeal www.cobaltappeal.com to support Breast Cancer patients in Gloucestershire
