Cotswold MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown yesterday called an adjournment debate on the subject of the redoubling of the section of single track railway running from Swindon to Kemble. The MP called for the debate after the Office of the Rail Regulator (ORR) announced on the 5th June that they would not provide funding for this scheme in the period 2009-2014, subject to a consultation period which closes on the 4th September 2008. Saturday 5th July at 7.00 pm - Meet at Ebrington Village Hall
Safari Suppers get their name from the fact that people travel from house to house for a three course meal. Hence “Going on Safari”. Each host prepares one course of a three course meal and hosts upto 10 guests who have starters at one venue and then move on to another host for the main course with everybody arriving back at Ebrington Village Hall for the final course of “puds” and coffee. With the consultation on the 15 short listed eco town locations across the country due to close on Monday 30th June, Cotswold MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown has sent a detailed letter of opposition to the proposed site at Long Marston, also know as Middle Quinton, which borders on the Northern edge of the Cotswold constituency. The Office of the Rail Regulator (ORR) yesterday published their Periodic Review for 2008 and the results are a mixed bag for the residents of the Cotswolds.
The good news is that the ORR is in support of the scheme to re-double the Cotswold railway line. Unfortunately the plan to re-double the Swindon to Kemble line has not been included. Read the rest of this entry »
