Topograph installed at one of highest points in Cotswolds

Representatives of a group of over 340 volunteers who look after the Cotswolds will unveil a topograph on Painswick Beacon this week that has been created to commemorate their 40th Anniversary. The Cotswold Voluntary Wardens were founded in 1968 and are the voluntary arm of the, Cotswolds Conservation Board, the organisation that exists to conserve and enhance the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Santa steams in to Toddington on the GWR

Saturday 6th December – Wednesday 24th December 2008 at Toddington Railway Station.
Santa paid an unexpected visit to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway this week to check on bookings for his “Santa Specials 2008” trains starting on Saturday 6th December. To his delight he found that some trains are already sold out and bookings are well up on previous years.

Cotswold MP, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, the Shadow Minister of Trade, had a meeting with over 40 local businessmen and businesswomen to discuss the current economic situation and the effect it was having on businesses. A number of issues were discussed, with particular consideration given to the role of the banks. Cotswold all set for Stow Horse Fair

Cotswold District Council has been working with Gloucestershire Police, local residents, and other agencies this month to ensure that forthcoming Stow Fair is as well controlled as the previous two events.

The Fair – held twice a year at Stow on the Wold – usually attracts a large number of gypsies and travellers, which can have a significant impact on the surrounding towns and villages. Read the rest of this entry »
