A new post dedicated to tackling climate change has been created at Cotswold District Council this month with to the appointment of Climate Change and Carbon Management Officer Kirsty Merritt.
Kirsty, who has a year-long contract with the Council, started work on June 23rd as the Council’s new Climate Change and Carbon Management Officer. She will be based at the Council’s Trinity Road offices and will work with staff and partner organisations to help reduce Council emissions, tackle climate change and promote measures to mitigate and adapt to its predicted effects.

Come and see how the Romans relaxed with several sessions being held around the Cotswolds by the Corinium Museum’s Outreach Service.

Saturday 26th July 6.30 pm, Toddington Railway Station, Gloucestershire
Toddington based heritage railway, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, is laying on a special steam train with a jazz band send off in aid of the cancer charity, Maggie’s Cotswolds. Cotswold MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown has made his final representation to Post Office Ltd consultation on the proposed outreach hours for Rendcomb Post Office. The Rendcomb branch was one of twelve Post Offices across the Cotswolds which the Post Office has confirmed will close but is one of the eight of those which will receive outreach. A jam-packed schedule of fun activities for children and teens is being lined up with the launch of Cotswold District Council’s successful ‘Summer off the Streets’ programme this month.

Saturday 12th July – Sunday 3rd August in The Octagon Gallery at Whichford Pottery.
Andrew’s pots are special for their skilled bold throwing and freehand painted decoration. He has adapted the historical techniques of country pottery and English Delftware to produce a fully hand-made range of functional decorative pots for modern use. Giving children the chance to enjoy outdoor play this summer is the aim of a new scheme launched by Cotswold District Council this month.
The Council’s new ‘Play Ranger’ scheme starts on Monday July 7th, where a small team of Play Rangers – led by Team Leader Katie Spencer – will travel to locations in Chesterton, Tetbury, Moreton in Marsh, Andoversford and Chedworth, equipped with a whole host of fun and games for local children to take part in.
