Sunday November 16th 2008 and Steve Edwards completed Marathon Number 459 by running the Cornish Marathon which was celebrating its twenty fifth anniversary. Representatives of a group of over 340 volunteers who look after the Cotswolds will unveil a topograph on Painswick Beacon this week that has been created to commemorate their 40th Anniversary. The Cotswold Voluntary Wardens were founded in 1968 and are the voluntary arm of the, Cotswolds Conservation Board, the organisation that exists to conserve and enhance the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Santa paid an unexpected visit to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway this week to check on bookings for his “Santa Specials 2008” trains starting on Saturday 6th December. A competition that encourages the traditional skill of hedgelaying takes place in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in November. Hedgelayers from across the UK will take part the North Cotswolds Hedgelaying competition, which takes place on Saturday 15th November at Foss Cross on the A429 between Northleach and Cirencester.
