Steve Edwards was due to run in the Luton Marathon last Sunday 7th December 2008 and that was to have been Marathon Number 461. However the race was cancelled because a car had crashed in the icy road conditions, blocking the course. Sunday November 16th 2008 and Steve Edwards completed Marathon Number 459 by running the Cornish Marathon which was celebrating its twenty fifth anniversary. Steve ran the Snowdonia Marathon on Saturday 25th October 2008 and it was Marathon Number 458 in his world record challenge. The Snowdonia Marathon, now in its 26th year, was voted “Best UK Marathon” in 2007 and can attract over 1500 competitors. Steve ran with Bib number 459 for Bourton Roadrunners. Marathon Number 456 is completed – only one week after Number 455

Steve Edwards has completed Marathon Number 456 – The Great Langdale Marathon in Cumbria - on Sunday 14th September 2008, which is only one week after he ran Marathon Number 455 at Wolverhampton. There is no rest when you are running for a world record.

Cotswolds based Steve Edwards completed his 455 Marathon on Sunday 7th September 2008.
The Carver Wolverhampton City Marathon was number 455 towards his world record target of running 500 Marathons by 2012, all within an average time of under 3 hours 20 minutes or 200 minutes.

Remember that Cotswolds based Steve Edwards is going for a world record by completing 500 marathons at an average race time of under 3 hours 20 minutes. He aims to complete the 500 marathons in Year 2012 to coincide with both the Olympics in the UK and his own 50th birthday. He has just completed Marathon Number 454 after a well deserved rest following on from his world record breaking time for a 10 marathons in 10 days challenge set in May this year. Cotswolds Steve Edwards smashes the world recordOn Sunday 18th May 2008 Steve Edwards smashed the world record by running 10 marathons in 10 days in the fastest ever combined finish time – 35 hours, 20 minutes, 44 seconds – which totally blew away the old record of 37 hours, 39 minutes, 34 seconds set in 2007.

This new world record equates to running each and every marathon in just 3 hours, 32 minutes , 4 seconds on each of ten days which is a truly staggering performance that will sit deservedly in the record books for some time to come.
