Marathon Number 453- Steve Edwards completes his 18th Shakespeare Marathon

Cotswolds based Steve Edwards has completed marathon number 453 in his world record challenge to complete 500 marathons in an average time of under 200 minutes- 3 hours 20 minutes. Marathon number 453 was completed in 3 hours 12 minutes and 57 seconds - so Steve is well on target and for once this was a local marathon so he didn’t have to spend hours travelling as well as hours running. Paddington Bear comes to Toddington on the GWR

Paddington Bear* visits the Gloucester Warwickshire Railway for the first time this coming weekend. Amazingly, this little bear has been enchanting youngsters for half a century and he’s coming to Toddington to celebrate his 50th birthday.

Wildlife and Steam on Tour at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway

Saturday 12th April & Sunday 13th April at Winchcombe Station, Gloucestershire

This special exhibition by the renowned wildlife artist and steam locomotive owner David Shepherd is being held in aid of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation and combines his two passions - endangered wildlife and steam locomotives. Also operating over the GWR railway during the weekend will be David Shepherd’s own giant of the steam age - locomotive 9F 2-10-0 No. 92203 Black Prince which was one of the last steam locomotives to be built by BR.

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway (GWR) is running a Spring Diesel Gala over the weekend with an intensive passenger and freight timetable. The GWR has one of the finest collections of heritage diesel locomotives in the country and there will be opportunities to ride behind a large variety of types between Toddington and Cheltenham Racecourse plus a special “Driver for a Fiver” opportunity.

448 and counting - Cotswolds Marathon Man completes another race

Cotswolds based Steve Edwards ran his 448 marathon last Sunday - 17th February - in a time of 3 hours 12 minutes and 23 seconds and that is one more race and one more very good time towards his world record challenge of 500 marathons by 2012 in an average time of under 3 hours 20 minutes.

Time Travel Kids go free on the GWR throughout March

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway (GWR), which operates steam and diesel trains between Toddington and Cheltenham Racecourse, kicks off its 2008 season on 1st March with an offer most youngsters would find hard to refuse - they can travel free!
